Pastor Bill DeConna and his wife Rebekah started Victory Church of Gainesville on the Fourth of July, 1999. The church started in the Holiday Inn at Newberry Road and Tower Road. Bill, Rebekah and the founding team of Elders desired to start a Life-giving church in Gainesville that helped people find and fulfill their God-given destiny. They wanted to have a church that ENCOURAGED people and built them up in Christ. They wanted a church that believed in the supernatural power, provision and goodness of God.
In 2000, Victory Church started holding Sunday services in the cafeteria of Kanapaha Middle School. During several years of meeting in the school, we focused on winning souls and making disciples, and impacting the local community with the love and power of God. Ten acres of land were purchased off of Rocky Point road, across from the Florida Farm Bureau, with the intent of building a church that would increase our effectiveness in sharing the love of Jesus in the Gainesville/Alachua County community.
In 2007, as a stepping stone towards building on our land, we renovated a building off of highway 441 in Micanopy and began holding our services there. We currently meet in this building, and we have been faithful in our pursuit to love God and lead people into a passionate relationship with Jesus.
In late 2012 and early 2013, we continued making strides towards building on the church land. We paid for architectural designs and blueprints, environmental impact assessments, and soil tests, among other projects.
In late 2018, we started renovating a building in Gainesville that is an ideal location for reaching the University of Florida. This building is also ideally located for us to be able to reach both the East and West sides of Gainesville, including the neighboring schools. We have a strong desire to reach and invest in the next generation. We are currently meeting in this new location: 4251 SW 13th Street.
Our goal as a church has always been to Glorify God, and to help people take their next step in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We hope that YOU can become a part of our story. We pray that Victory Church can help you become ALL that God intended for you to be.
